Cynthia Hauk, MFA

Cynthia Hauk, MFA, is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the meeting place between inner and outer landscapes. Her current paintings move between abstraction and suggestions of water, weather, geology, memory, and emotional terrain—becoming worlds that feel familiar without resolving completely into something known.

Working intuitively with watercolor, acrylic ink, and mixed media, Cynthia sets something in motion and responds to what emerges. Her process moves between instinctive gestures and periods of waiting, watching, and deciding when to intervene and when to give the work space.

For Cynthia, making art is a form of refuge—a place to return to the present moment and to herself. Questions of home have surfaced throughout her practice in different forms, and she is increasingly interested in how the act of making can become a kind of home: a place for attention, uncertainty, curiosity, and return.

Cynthia earned her MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University. Her current work marks a return to sustained abstraction and an exploration of larger, more immersive scale.
